1. Power of Mindfulness: Mind Full, or MindFul?

Have you observed - How many times your mind just wanders between past and future? How many times you really listen to others in meetings or conversations? How many times you are stressed out about an important meeting that is about to happen? I can go on and on about things that go around us and impact us sometimes positively, sometimes negatively and we may not be aware of them.

We are just not being mindful!!

Mindfulness helps to bring us back to present moment and be at peace with ourselves and with others around us.

So try the following for next few weeks:

  • Whenever you observe your mind wandering into past or future, close your eyes and take few slow and deep breaths
  • When you are in a meeting or 1-1 conversation, give your 100% attention to active listening to the person. Look into their eyes. Keep your phone either in pocket or away from your hands
  • Focus on one task at a time, do not multi-task
  • Keep smiling and be happy - the world is mirror-image of you. If you are happy, you will attract more and more happy people around you
  • Be grateful and thankful to others. Make it an habit to thank at-least five people everyday
  • Do something self-selflessly for others. I have been conducting free yoga and meditation sessions every week.

Do it for few weeks and let me know how it changes your life.

PS: This is Part 1 of many Power of ..... blogs I intent to share in 2019.

Hi Lalit!? Thanks for the article.? I also conduct meditation/mindfulness sessions at my company, every three weeks for 30 minutes.? I usually offer a quick mindfulness tip - there are so many great exercises to do requiring very little time.? Then, I I take the group through a longer meditation or mindfulness practice.? We also talk about practical ways to bring these practices into work and personal life.? Meditation changed my life in so many ways.? I want to share it with everyone too!

This is right on target! For many years I would lead global teams on conference calls. At the start of the call I would ask for everyones agreement on the goals for the meeting and for all to be mindful with our intent by being present, actively listening, and not to multitask. Thank you for sharing even more tips and thank you for your meditation sessions, I always enjoyed those sessions.
