The Power of a Magic Wand

The Power of a Magic Wand

Last week I had the pleasure of speaking with someone whom I admire and have already learned a ton from. I've watched so many of her courses that I feel like we are old friends. We were discussing an opportunity to join a group she is about to kick off. After sitting with it for a bit I knew the group wasn't quite right for me, but I also knew I wanted to work with her in some capacity.

At one point in our conversation, I literally said, "If I had a magic wand, I would...." and continued on with my request.

Guess what?!

She said, "Yes!" She said yes even though what I was asking for is not one of her current offerings. I'm thrilled because this is exactly what I need to help with my own professional development. I am incredibly grateful she is able to grant my wish, and I'm so glad I asked.

A few lessons came to mind through this experience.

  1. Know What You Need: This one can be a bugger. It's often hard to really know what we need. This requires practicing what I call deep listening to your heart's desire. It requires getting still and giving yourself time to think. It may also require working with a coach to help draw it out. It is amazing how quickly we can dismiss or ignore what we know deep inside. There is so much wisdom available to us if we are willing to do the work to listen to that still, small voice inside of us that knows.
  2. Ask for What You Need: This one can be difficult too. We can talk ourselves out of things quickly. We can come up with all the reasons why something won't work, our idea won't be approved, they will never say yes, etc. We don't actually know what will happen when we ask. Perhaps the answer is no, but most assuredly it is a "no" if we never have the courage to ask.

When we begin to build our deep knowing muscles, we start to determine the difference between a "sacred yes" and a "sacred no." These answers are sacred because they come from that place of knowledge that is connected to something bigger than ourselves. It is not Ego answering the question, but Spirit.

In my example, I knew her program was not a good fit for me because I had done the internal listening to determine a sacred no. That understanding made the conversation so much easier. I had no fear of disappointing her because I was able to share practical and thoughtful reasons why it wasn't a fit right now. My gracious "no" is not a reflection on her or the program at all. It is a reflection on where I am personally and professionally. She understood and agreed.

Standing firm in that deep sense of knowing creates confidence. You know you are speaking from your inner truth which makes it hard to argue with.

This is the place we all want to operate form - our deepest truth. As a former people pleaser, standing in the power of my truth has taken decades to achieve. I'm thrilled that I can now confidently speak from my truth because I've done the work to tap into my what the deepest part of me knows at my core.

I want that for you too.

Book a free Clarity Call. Let me help you tap into your deepest knowing to stand in your truth. Doing so will give you the clarity and confidence to navigate this dynamic world we live in.

As I was reminded painfully with the recent loss of an old friend, life is short. Don't waste it doing something you hate or stay feeling stuck.

Get your spark back.

Live a live you love.

Use your magic wand. Ask for what you need. You might be amazed at what happens!
