The POWER of LinkedIn!!!!!!!
Ryan's Inspiration
A little over a month ago, I had a post go viral on LinkedIn. I committed to myself to post at least once every single weekday thereafter. People are now engaging with my content. My follower count has quadrupled. It's been an amazing journey and it's just getting started.
I received the following message this morning from a genuine dude in Florida named Ryan:
"Mr. Worman,
I wanted to send you a quick email to express my gratitude for your posts and optimism. We have never had any type of direct conversation but your posts have inspired me! I have been working for a company that continues to "move the carrot" every chance they get. I've always been afraid to look within myself to use my skills in sales and leadership and apply them to a new field. Comfort became contentment and I have known I needed to make a change but was afraid to do so. Anyways, I went on an interview for a sales position and after the first interview he called me back for a second interview and a revamp on the position! It is a wonderful idea to think about going to work for a company who sees the value within their employees.
I know this email wandered all over the place but to bring it back to the point.... thank you! Seeing your story unfold and reading your posts gave me the courage/insight to make a change.
Have a great day!"
When people place value in your words, it is the most amazing feeling in the world. Your stories can matter to real people. Your opinions can create real-life inspiration. But with that comes real responsibility.
If I don't post every weekday, I feel that I've let my LinkedIn peeps down. I feel that way because I get at least one message per day about how my posts are inspiring people to step out of their comfort zones. One message per day about how people are realizing that we're not chained to being content with our corporate careers. One message per day about how people are fired up to create their own happiness, with my stories and posts being their kindling.
The keys to using LinkedIn to it's fullest are being positive and genuine. If you're willing to put yourself out there, help people along the way, and see the positivity in all that happens to you, you could end up inspiring a stranger hundreds of miles away.

7 年Really admire your motivation. Making the jump from employee to employer is challenging and like most things in life can be rewarding one day and collapsing all at once the next. What defines your brand your business acumen is how you emerge from these pitfalls. You are entering into a market to provide a service that is essential for over 80% of all businesses. My advice to you is to focus on a micro-niche segment that you have experience with or understand customer behavior. Stick with this business type, become an expert, learn from mistakes, fine tune crisis control and set a goal that triggers you to enter into a broader market. Success breeds Sucesss!

7 年Hi everyone: I'm trying to contribute more as well. I'm never sure people get that much out of what I write, but two things *are* for sure: first, I know I feel better about giving back to the community in ways that I hope others can benefit from by my knowledge and experience; and, second, I see a recurring theme of people benefiting by hearing that others have been through similar events and what they did (or thought) about it. Makes us all part of one big community, no matter which one applies for you personally. Thanks to all of you for writing/sharing, and whether I personally agree or not with what others have contributed, I definitely see the value.
