The Power of "Like" to a Small Business

What may seem like a little effort to you...could be providing the hope and encouragement it takes for a small business to keep going.
It's a crazy concept of this modern world. That a simple "like" could possibly give a business or a sales person the validation that they are on the right track. That a simple "like" could be the motivation it takes to keep on going.
I woke up this morning and performed what amounts to a simple act of kindness...I "liked" several posts that caught my attention.
That was fairly simple. It didn't take much time. And I don't really expect anything in return. In fact, I didn't think much of it at all.
On the other end of the spectrum...I'm the CEO and founder of an Orange County based, social network startup for the commercial design and building industry, Dezignwall. Trying to launch any company is hard. But trying to launch a global social network for such a huge and diverse business community is a mountain of a climb. The thought of trying to get in front of such a fragmented audience is crazy. So, daily, I take to social media, in an effort to let our budding social network be known.
Some days the response is quiet simply gratifying. We sent out a post or an email and people "liked" it. You can see this in the amount of "opens", "clicks" and responses on our website! Yay! We are on to something!
Then we have those other days. When it seems that nothing is going right. And yet it's amazing the power of a "like". Often times these "likes" are from a dedicated group of friends and colleagues that show such an unwavering commitment to our cause by supporting us through "likes" and "comments" of encouragement.
This same scenario is played out on all social media. From the small business looking for validation. To the international sales rep who is feeling defeated while on a slow streak and needs that encouragement to keep trudging onward toward that next sale.
