In the realm of mental health, a common debate arises: Is it more important to increase positive thinking or to reduce negative thinking? While both are undoubtedly beneficial, research suggests that reducing negative thoughts may have a more profound impact on our overall well-being.
The Impact of Negative Thinking
Negative thoughts can be pervasive, often sneaking up on us as we navigate our daily lives. These thoughts can manifest in various forms, such as self-criticism, doubt, and fear. The villain voice in our heads—the critic, the demotivator, the doubter—can be quieted with practice and discipline. Studies have shown that actively reducing negative thoughts can lead to significant improvements in mental health.
A study from the University of Cambridge found that training ourselves to quiet negative thoughts leads to improved mental health outcomes, including reduced symptoms of anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. This research indicates that while positive thinking is beneficial, actively reducing negative thoughts can have a more profound impact on overall well-being.

2 周Thanks for sharing! I definitely think less negative thoughts serves us better. If we do more positive thinking, but still have the negative thoughts they can over come the good energy from the positive thoughts which then minimizes the benefits of the change.
