The Power Of Keeping Your Team Motivated

Let’s talk about one of the biggest challenges of owning a mortgage business:

Employee Retention.

Finding and hiring the right people is one thing. But keeping them with you is another.

Now, you might be thinking that retaining your team all boils down to pay raises…

But the reality is this:

Your people aren’t necessarily motivated by money alone.

To be clear, I’m not saying that money is not important.

But you need to understand that it’s easier to hold on to your people when you also focus on the non-financial side of things.

Ideally, you would have hired people who resonated with your compelling business vision and your values in the first place.

And after that, it’s a matter of providing them with all the training they need. You want to make sure you’re setting them up for success after all.

How Do You Motivate Your Team??

When it comes to employee motivation, it helps to think outside the box.

For example, I have a mentee who chose to have working mothers in her team.

She knows they appreciate the flexibility she gives them.

Because as long as the work gets done, she doesn’t mind if they need to run off to send their kids to school.

My mentee’s also flexible with their daily work schedule. It’s because she knows that sometimes, they can only focus on their work after the kids are asleep. Or they can only work during school hours.

Of course, there’s a price to pay for this.

My mentee has to work around the fact that some of her team members might be MIA a few times a week. As you might expect, her clients are not necessarily happy about this arrangement.

But for her, the benefits are well worth it.

She’s created a team of like-minded and dedicated people.

And she doesn’t have to motivate her employees with extravagant salaries and bonuses.

It’s a win-win situation for all!

So now, think about how you can work out something similar for your best employees.
