As a CEO, it is easy to get caught up in the latest management trends and models that promise the world. But before you invest too heavily in these new fads, it is important to remember that successful management is anything but complicated. In fact, being an effective manager does not require any mysterious or complicated methods – it simply requires keeping it simple and following old, proven, and even obvious ideas.?
What does this mean? Well, for starters, think back to the basics. Remember that at its core leadership comes down to competence, caring, and benevolence. Competence means having both technical and conceptual skills that make you adept at problem-solving and decision-making. Caring speaks to your ability to effectively manage relationships with people - both your employees as well as that outside of the organization. And finally, benevolence entails using your power in ways that are beneficial for everyone involved.?
These three components have been around since the dawn of time (or at least since time immemorial) and they still form the foundation of successful leadership today. There may be moments when certain aspects become more prominent than others – for example during times of crisis where caring takes precedence over benevolence – but ultimately all three must play a role if you want your team to reach its fullest potential.?

Chances are it's not – just an older message expressed in a newer package! Remembering this will help keep you grounded in what really matters when leading an organization: competence, caring, and benevolence!?By focusing on these age-old principles first, you will be well on your way to becoming an effective leader who leaves a lasting legacy within your organization!
