The Power of Joining: A Businesswoman’s Perspective

From a young age, my mother often told me I was a "joiner." Whether it was auxiliaries, clubs, or student organizations, I actively participated in various groups. Looking back, I believe she was right—I have always enjoyed being involved in things that interest me. Engagement has been more than a social endeavor; it has been a pathway to learning, networking, and contributing to something greater than myself.

As a businesswoman, I am inundated daily with invitations to join organizations, attend networking events, and partner with new initiatives. These requests come from all directions, each offering an opportunity for connection, influence, or impact. While I appreciate the value of collaboration and community, I have also learned the importance of discernment. • Authenticity and Culture – The best professional groups and partnerships thrive on authenticity. I seek out organizations where I can be my true self, where collaboration is encouraged, and where members genuinely support one another.

For me, the key to sustainable engagement is balance. I ensure that my affiliations serve either my business or my spirit—or ideally, both. I do not join out of obligation or for appearances; I join because I believe in the mission, the people, and the impact.
