The Power of Intuition at Work

Mark works for a leading advertising company. Several times he has experienced a wave of ideas beyond the brief that he was given while working on a project. Every time he implemented those waves of ideas, he received a standing ovation. However, unfortunately, he has also noticed that because of stress or lack of time, if he ended up ignoring what was coming to him at that moment, his account director or the client would turn around and say to Mark, “this is not your usual creative best”.

Has it ever happened to you that, like Mark, an idea just flashed in your mind and you realised that this is the way forward? Or a sudden flash of thought tells you either “not to say” or “say something” in a meeting or a particular situation at work?? Or you want to take the lane in front but something inside says to take a left and you do so? And the outcome of all situations ended up benefiting everyone.?

You might have experienced many such situations. Sometimes like Mark, you may have chosen to follow or unfollow this feeling.??

Simply put, intuition is like inner guidance. It is an integral part of who we are, and an essential part of the gifts that have been given to us so that we can function well in this world. It can bring us both warning and a signal for us to follow what we want to do. It can come in form of path-breaking ideas when we are working on a project, task or engagement.?

Intuition is normally a sudden realization. Often, there is no prior knowledge, skill, or background as to why we are being told what we are being told. This makes intuition often uncanny for people and difficult for them to practice.

We are all born with this power. We all have a connection to what’s referred to as the higher consciousness and the universal consciousness. It is through this connection we become aware of things that we were not previously, a few seconds ago. The more we are relaxed, the greater will be our chance to seek such awareness through our intuition. The more we listen to this awareness and test it out the greater the chances of developing our intuition.

Some of the powerful ways to develop your intuition are:?

  1. Practice Meditation and Silence: Intuition is very subtle. If we don’t pay attention to it, it will come and then go away without any kind of realisation. This is why a calm and optimistic mindset plays a significant role. To accomplish this, practising meditation and silence becomes paramount. Practice Silence for 10 mins every day and observe everything around you including your body. Talk less, including yourself, and observe more. You can also practice guided meditation or learn them from a good teacher. Dedicating 10 mins to this practice will offer tremendous results in your ability to tap into your intuition when it tries to speak to you through words, images, emotions and physical sensations. However, it is also important that you avoid doing meditation whenever you are in a negative state of mind because that can circulate the unwanted unnecessary energy further in your body.
  2. Pay attention to the signals you are receiving: Next time when you're driving, and something tells you that you should turn left, then do that and discover what comes up. If you are in a grocery store and something tells you that you should buy a different brand of juice, buy it. When you're about to step out of your house to go meet friends and something tells you that you should not step out of the house today, listen to this feeling and examine what comes up because of this feeling. This is called trusting the intangible energy that you are experiencing. The more you develop trust in your ability to access and listen to these signals, the more your body will start getting tuned like a radar or an antenna to catch these signals that your environment is constantly giving you.
  3. Regular exercise: Regular exercise can also help you to keep your mind calm which further increases your chances to have a good awareness or intuitive guidance that your body is giving you. Exercising for at least 20-30 mins will raise your vibration which can help you to tap into your intuition.?
  4. Be brutally honest with yourself: Sometimes we push away our feelings and do not go with what our heart says. We may reject our intuition simply because many times it makes us feel uncomfortable. It makes us feel uncomfortable because we run a “what if” scenario in our minds that prevents us from achieving our potential. For example, what if we fail or it does not go the way we anticipated it? We want to be in our comfort zone. However, being uncomfortable is good and a way forward towards growth. Hence, if something doesn’t feel right or you feel that a change in direction is required, then consider that change. Be honest with yourself and listen to those feelings.?

Ultimately remember, intuition is really an immensely powerful awareness then it is absolutely possible for us to develop it and take it to a very potent level.
