The power of gratitude
?
About a month ago I too part in a mindfulness session, ran by a very dear colleague. It was her farewell session. She is moving to a new chapter in her life.
She spoke about a phrase that really stuck in my brain. "If thank you would be the only pray you say, it would be enough"..
That led me reflecting again and again. The last year made me go on mute when it comes to social media. The only news I could share was and still is around the release of our hostages held in captivity over 480 days. I am the fortunate one, apropos gratitude, that I do not know personally anyone who was in the Nova party, anyone that was abducted. And still I feel so connected to them deeply that I felt a sense of shame if I am to express myself "as normal", when they are still held in captivity…
However I now feel I can slowly unmute myself. And gratitude has been such a powerful tool to keep me going, that I want to share it with the world.
When I feel down, when my day is not going so well – I look for what I can be grateful for. When I started practicing gratitude, it felt somehow fake. As if I am looking with a lot of effort, to find a good thing in a "bad" day. But guess what, the more I practice the easy it becomes. Try it out, I can guarantee you it works. And I know it sounds spiritual but in fact practicing gratitude is backed up with quite lots of researches by now.
The other beautiful thing that is happening when practicing gratitude, is that you find more and more things to be grateful for. Simple, small things. That makes your day, uplift your spirit and bring a smile. And you find grace in things that happens, positive and negative, you feel you have the power to choose how to respond to events around you. And that is a very strong position to be in.
This morning I receive from an email from another dear colleague of mine. We were leading a training session together a couple of months ago.

Morning Sima,
Would just send you this beautiful picture, because it reminds me of our training and your power to be inspiring for others ? ?.
This small gesture of her, made my day. No matter what happens today, I will keep in mind her words.
She helped me find meaning an what I do, and I am so grateful.
Are you practicing gratitude ? tell me about it.
Almost every evening, I have a gratitude ritual—a kind of prayer—that I also share with my kids. Together, we take a moment to reflect and express what we’re grateful for each day. In the midst of our busy lives, this practice helps us pause, appreciate the present, and try to focus on the positive..
Beautiful words, dear Sima! Thank you for sharing! I have a weekly habit revolving around cultivating gratitude in my life — I have a note on my phone where I try to collect 10 “happy moments” throughout each week, to remember, appreciate, and remember fondly throughout the year. This has become one of my favorite ways to practice gratitude, reflection, and overall appreciation for life! ??
