The Power of a Good Visual
Wunderdogs
We build brand and digital systems for teams taking on the world’s hardest challenges
There’s so much to be thankful for this time of year! At Wunderdogs, we’re grateful for our incredible clients, our talented team, and the resilient industries we get to collaborate with. But let’s be honest: this season can also feel chaotic. With so many ideas, plans, and data swirling around, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed.?
That’s where data visualization shines: it simplifies complexity, organizes information, and helps you (and your audience!) focus on what matters. So how do you get it right?
In Pawspective
Infographics and data visualization can be tricky for early and growth-stage companies. Often, they simplify information for you but leave your audience overwhelmed or confused. Here are four ways in which you can ensure that your data shines like it deserves to.
Audience-Centric
Start with one main point of data or information. Consider who it’s for and why it matters. For example, when working with Applied Carbon, our goal wasn’t to show the entire carbon cycle, it was to highlight inefficiencies that landowners could address.
Simple
Avoid cramming too much into one visualization. Focus on key metrics and ensure your audience can grasp the high-level insights quickly, with additional detail available for those who want to dig deeper.

Right for the Data
Match the visualization to the story you’re telling. Want to show change over time? Use a line or bar chart. Need to show how parts relate to a whole? A pie chart is your friend. The right chart type ensures clarity and impact without requesting your audience to do any guesswork.
In Context
Surround your data with the right story. You don’t need to write a long narrative to prop up the data though. Titles, labels, annotations, and key takeaways help your audience understand the "why" behind the numbers, without needing a lengthy explanation.
