Power of Goals

Power of Goals

Way back in 1997, a family friend couple (#ThankYourMentor) came over to our place. Over a cup of tea, they shared with us (me & wife) the power of goals. We discussed briefly (we knew what we wanted, clearly). Then actually wrote them down.

Recently, while clearing old papers, I came across this note. The goals were not really SMART/PURE/CLEAR. But it came from the heart.  Needless to add, all six of them, our life-goals, stand fulfilled! Mysterious are the ways of the Universe!

A goal is a desired result that a person or a system envisions, plans and commits to achieve.

Decades of research on achievement suggests that successful people reach their goals not simply because of who they are, but more often because of what they do and what they want to be.

It is possible to attract anything that we want in our lives by simply having a strong, positive and energised intention and orienting ourselves to make it happen.  Intentions are clear and positive statements of the outcome we want to experience

Goals help in modifying behavior by directing effort & other resources towards goal-relevant activities. It helps us to focus, with energy

  • We should differentiate between an end goal and a performance goal.

Goals should be SMART, PURE & CLEAR

  • SMART – Specific, Measurable, Achievable/Agreed, Realistic/Relevant, Time Bound
  • PURE – Positive, Understood, Relevant, Ethical
  • CLEAR – Challenging, Legal, Environmentally sound, Appropriate, Recorded

Write down your goal. Less than 5% adults write their goals. Others dream or work for it! It does not help...

Boundaries are not physical – theyre mental.

Get out of the victim mode. Take responsibility & move ahead. Think Big...
