Why it Works
If the term "social karma" is new to you, the best way to describe this is the act of engaging with the social content of others, or even celebrating someone else's success on your profile. These actions will typically result in reciprocal engagement on your social posts. Just like with any professional relationship, it is best practice to give before you ask for anything in return. I also want to be clear that you should never expect someone to return the favor of engagement, but chances are that they will simply because they see you engaging with their content.

My initial plan for this post was to also include a photo and tag the LinkedIn member to celebrate their accomplishments, but I respectfully kept the post anonymous per their request.

Originally posted on March 7, IMPULZE tracked 18 comments on this post. Half of the comments are from me, which makes sense since I try to respond to anyone who comments on my content to engage my network in conversation. I was able to easily see who made comments in the report and click on a link to take me to their latest activity so I could return some social karma as well. This report also helped me reconnect with some folks in my network, reminding me to schedule some catch-up calls. Pro tip: commenting gets you noticed, so don't forget to leave comments on the posts of connections you want to build stronger relationships with!

Gold Standard Content Creators
What do these three content creators have in common? I had the opportunity to meet all of them in person recently!
Danielle is a powerhouse when it comes to networking and relationship building. We met on Clubhouse in 2021 and connected on LinkedIn soon after, and even though we have had extremely different experiences in our early careers, we are both passionate about discussing the experience of young professionals in the workplace. Gigi is another creator on LinkedIn whom I've really enjoyed getting to know better. Take it from me, if you really want to get to know someone, make an effort to schedule at least 30 minutes to speak with them one-on-one. We each rescheduled a few times but eventually were fortunate enough to meet IRL (with Danielle who flew into LA unexpectedly). I really admire Gigi because she is someone who uses her platform to advocate for others while going after her dreams, like in this post. She also shared some great tips with me about personal branding that I can't wait to implement!
3. Miguel Olave
When I found out Miguel was coming to LA I knew we had to meet up! I first connected with Miguel through Clubhouse as well (the power of social audio is strong), but I am always impressed with the content Miguel puts out on LinkedIn. It was also no surprise to me that Miguel was selected for LinkedIn for Creators' inaugural creator accelerator program. Even simple posts like this one show the kind of selfless person he is, and I'm so glad to know him!
