Communication gap , misunderstanding , mislead, mis- conception , etc.etc. All of us are habituated in listening to these words and they have become a part and parcel of our lives irrespective of personal or professional standards .
Why do these happen ? A simple question with a simple answer --- we do not pay attention in asking back , cross check our understanding, take a feedback , work on the criticism or appreciation , and even most importantly the openness of asking and receiving and giving a feedback . Major of the hurdles in delivering a proper communication lies due to the process of FEEDBACK . Irrespective of how far critical, and non - important /important road map we create and assure to walk on it unless we describe the path way with all its hiccups.
"We clarify as we need to get to the result, understand the gap and bring in the required changes for betterment - is what I define FEEDBACK as. Human beings have a higher tendency , to overthink as we all think telling straight means getting into bad books as many a time we are unable to take candid feedback .But taking a feedback, in any forms, always keeps a way to work on communication and your clarity of your understanding .
I follow a methodology , which in turn is proved useful and I attempted it many times to see the result .
- Ask , Ask and Ask
- Ask clarifying questions
- Dont react , listen to it first
- Work on your expectation management as you work on your strength doing the same
- Be Open to know that you might not always be excellent to what you present
- Ask open questions which push the recipient to answer
- Remember no one is ready to be candid in giving feedback , keenly observe to study through lines and the body language which will give you the right input .
I always remember, that taking feedback is the most important part of communication , in what ever profession you are in your idea of seeking feedback help you to become a prominent professional and a transparent individual .
