Power that failed humanity
The political drama across the globe has made the whole world a circus wherein each country has got something to entertain. With each country already dealing with the variants of the COVID-19, the internal and external matters between the countries have kept the political drama running. But what remains constant is the stand of the United States and China which by the way is more important than what the people of their own countries intend to express.
The US and China relations remind me of the popular Bollywood song from the movie Main Khiladi Tu Anari- “Hum Dono Hain Alag Alag, Hum Donon Hain Juda Juda, Ek Duje Se Kabhi Kabhi, Rehte Hain Hum Khafa Khafa… main Khiladi tu anadi”. Every time I read or watch foreign news on channels/mobile these two countries are always at the top. The news which does not mention them does not seem attractive to me at all. I feel they should be appreciated for their cameos in every news with special mentions at the start and end of the news. Besides the Oscar-worthy performances of their representatives across the globe calling upon the countries to come together and work towards a better future is quite ironic as they are constantly in a race to overshadow every other nation using their power.
Although the people of their own countries call upon their leaders to identify and solve their problems sadly their people are suppressed by their conservational ideologies that fail to accept the social advancements that the 21st century offers. Be it the abortion law or the frequent economic depressions in America or the censorship of expressions in China and the unethical investments in neighbouring nations that challenge world peace, these two countries have mastered the art of washing their hands in blood behind the scenes and yet emerge as the good Samaritan for the world. For them challenging the beliefs of others is easier even when their statute does not provide basic freedom to their people.

In the modern world where trust has become a major issue, countries like USA and China have compelled the people to question their respective authorities for not keeping up with the US and China even though their moral principles are far beyond the reach of these two countries. China and US have successfully divided the world into two groups by tempting the countries with the power, money, and technology these countries have in abundance. The underdeveloped and developing countries are left with no choice but to take a side that decides the future of their development and recognition in the world even when they are aware that these two countries will be the first ones to ditch them when they would want their support the most.
Having immense power has helped them to dominate the world but as rightly said by Joseph Campbell “There is nothing worse than reaching the top of the ladder and discovering that you’re on the wrong wall.” The USA and China eventually will have to face this reality for how they have exploited the world. The same will come back to them like a boomerang and in a way they could never have imagined as one must not forget that power is a sword with two blades that treats both the sides the same. ?
