Power Experience | The Business Case and Proposal

The moment everyone has been waiting for… again, not true. But we'll distill the necessary evil of pricing, a customized business case, and the statement of work for a Partner/System Integrator (SI).

?

For those who are just joining the party, this is step 6 of a 7-step process - called The Power Experience designed to help firms take Power Platform to scale. It wouldn't be another blog post without a blatant flashing sign to show the value of Power Platform. Today, we'll just leave you with the one-liner: 97% of the Fortune 500 is using the Power Platform. You're welcome ;)

?

A Power Platform proposal typically includes a business case and a statement of work. The business case is the first step in using Microsoft Power Platform to solve a business problem. It is deciding what problem you want to tackle. In IT terms, the business problem to solve is commonly referred to as the use case.

?

Example: Expense reporting - create a process that's efficient for employees and the accounting department, allows faster budget tracking, and reduces our exposure in audits.

?

The initial use cases are important to define which will provide creditability and measurability to the Power Team and the story we are building to bring Power Platform to scale at the firm.

?

These are important to define as they will support budgets from multiple divisions. The Business Case or Business Value Assessment (BVA), will provide additional credibility and justification to executives to make the investment in staffing the Center of Excellence (CoE) overview - Power Platform | Microsoft Learn, the technology, and the support services.

?

Additionally, the statement of work (SOW) is a document that defines the scope of work required to complete a project. It outlines the deliverables, timelines, and milestones for the project. A Microsoft Power Platform partner will typically provide an SOW as part of their proposal. The SOW should include details such as project objectives, scope of work, timelines, deliverables, acceptance criteria, and pricing information for services.

?

The Business Case, will also include pricing information for the technology which incorporates volume based pricing and any additional programs and special offers which may be available.

?

While we are presenting this as step 6 in the Power Experience, it can also be shared in a limited form during Step 1 | Executive Alignment. This will help executives socialize what is offered with an investment at scale. Steps 2 through Step 7 will justify the initial quote.

?

Make sure to engage your Microsoft Account Team early and often to get the most out of unique programs and incentives to help with governance, adoption, and scale.
