The Power of Employee Advocacy

The Power of Employee Advocacy

Yesterday, Team Charleston of D.R. Horton Coastal Carolinas delivered a check to Lowcountry Orphan Relief for $2,713.  This was on the heels of a grand opening Blood Drive at their Oyster Point celebration, garnering 18 pints of much-needed blood for Lowcountry-area hospitals.

Our Myrtle Beach office was just as busy yesterday - donating 33 pints of blood to the American Red Cross at their new training location, plus 20 huge bags of new & gently used clothing to Fostering Hope, Inc. of Conway, South Carolina.  The competitive spirit (and support, mind you) between the two cities helped them collectively raise over $6000 to South Carolina charities in two events.

At D.R. Horton, we're entering a new era of employee advocacy.  These aren't ideas that we "dreamed up in a boardroom."  They came straight from the needs & passions of our people - the ones who volunteer on their own hours, dedicate their free energy to causes in their communities & suggest ideas to us.

If you're listening to your employees & understanding what drives them, "serving others" is (surprisingly or not surprisingly) high on that list.  We do our best at DRH to consistently support this - and give our folks the tools to succeed.  After all, it's not about "us," it's about the impact we make.  You'll see it in our fiscal year tagline starting in October - PACE2016 (contributed by a sales agent in the field) - Positive Attitudes Change Everything.  Our people are our best assets & advocates.

Ask yourself, "does my Company want me to leave a legacy? What does that legacy look like?"  In Coastal Carolinas, that impact is whatever you can roll up your sleeves & contribute!  If you'd like to know more, or bring your passion to our teams - visit drhorton.com for available opportunities.  Be a part of PACE!
