The Power of Education

Education. It's a big word, and it demands big actions. Everybody talks about education, but what does it really mean to them?
My personal story will illustrate how education changed the way I think and the way I live my life.
To be honest, I wasn't the best student when I was in high school. I was just an "average" kid with a dream. It seemed back then that all the successful people I knew just got "lucky", life gave them the opportunity and it is why they became what they are.?
You must work hard to achieve your dreams they said, but how hard? Despite my best efforts, I was not able to get my desired results. Why I felt like I was spinning my wheels and not getting anywhere??
Moving to Canada in 2014 changed my mindset and gave me a new perspective on life. I learned that all the successful people I met were very well educated, so this is the path I chose to follow.?
Since I was a child, buildings have fascinated me. Each one of them carries a very unique history. My journey began with my enrollment in a structural engineering technology program at Red River College in Winnipeg, MB.
Due to the language barrier and the different education systems, I struggled my first year. As a student, I had to adjust myself and work twice as hard as my classmates in order to be successful. I strived to never be the "average" kid I was in high school anymore.?
As a student, I worked evening shifts to support my family. During the week and on weekends, I worked an average of 35 hours a week. It was almost impossible to balance work and school.
But I never gave up!
I graduated with honours from the Structural engineering technology program back in 2018. It was a great feeling to make it to the top. I was so motivated that I knew there would be no stopping me anymore. I proved to myself that anything is possible in life.?
Then I decided to continue my education and get my bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. Besides knowing it was another three and a half years of the same lifesyle I had been through in the past 3 years, I was prepared for the challenge of getting my education like all the other successful people I mentioned earlier. I already knew I had what it takes, so I just jumped right in!

Instead of taking three and a half years to graduate, I graduated in two years. Was it easy to take 7 university classes each semester? Definitely NOT.
I graduated with a first-class standing bachelor's degree in civil engineering in 2020 and I knew then that I was going to have to work 10 times harder in order to be successful from that point forward.
As of today, I am the Director of Growth at the largest Canadian-owned real estate company in Canada, called HomeLife Realty. In addition, I serve as a consultant for two other companies, one of which is PoloLoans, and the other is Taxi Property Management. Additionally, I found a general contracting company in 2021 called homee. PRO. You probably think this guy is lucky, he had the opportunity and now he is successful, right?
No, that isn't true. You must be persistent, determined, and consistently productive to become successful.?
I followed a path that wasn't easy, but my future is even more difficult once you surround yourself with like-minded individuals who share the same goals as you - to WIN. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but with hard work, dedication, and consistency, I know that I will reach the next level of success very soon.
What is the key to success?
The answer is simple, Education. I keep learning every day! Knowledge is power, as is networking and business ethics. With education you'll acquire the discipline needed to become the best you can be.
The vision of HomeLife Realty is exactly the same as my own. Millions of dollars have been invested to create the best education platform for real estate agents, brokers, and owners. Gabrielle Jeans, our dean of education at HomeLife University, is one of the industry's most powerful educators. Gabrielle has more than 45 years of experience in the industry. HomeLife Members aren’t “lucky,” they’re educated. And with the right education, we can all WIN!
So I need to ask all of you again: Everybody talks about education, but what does it really mean to them??
