The Power of Dynamism
On the 6th of April, I had the opportunity to give a short speech along with Jo?o Vieira da Costa about our way of perceiving life and the industry of performance marketing itself.
It's always good to remember these special moments, but more than celebrating it with this article I want to highlight what we said that day.
Jo?o starts by asking to the students who was present in all conferences of the Microsoft Entrepreneurial Week at Nova SBE. Unsurprisingly, no-one raised their hand. Jo?o made this question for a simple reason: last year, when we were students, we did it.
We went to all the events, and the conference changed our life. We met there Ricardo Duarte, CEO of Mobipium, an outstanding guy with a completely different style and attitude that you are used to see.
After MEW, I had one strong realization about student life. Why do you have so many students going to 100% of classes, without even paying attention, and waste such big opportunities as conferences?
The answer is unclear, it seems that everyone has a mission about what they are supposed to do in college: just study hard, hang around classes, have a good average and start a decent job. The majority of us seems to settle with the status quo, while dreaming with the stars. It’s time to change.
Later on the video, I explain the performance marketing business model. Long story short, a client only pays when the advertiser meets the defined goals. In my opinion that’s the future in every aspect of life. As students no-one will care about how many time you spent studying for something or going after certain goals, the world cares about what you managed to do.
As a young talent you can reach everything that you want, you just have to fight for it. Listen to Gary Vaynerchuk, think about what he says. Read “Rich Dad Poor Dad”. Don’t you dare to dream to become successful while being average as everyone else.
I was thrilled for having this opportunity of giving this conference at Nova. It made me and Jo?o realize that we are on the right track, it made us realize that if we put our efforts and are able to be talented day after day, 365 days every year we will reach our goals.
As Jo?o says, nowadays we do things slow and want results fast. You should do things fast, fail fast, conquer fast, move faster and later on you will reach something impactful in your life.
