The power of "Desire"

The power of "Desire"

Productivity for productivity's sake is not enough and can even be harmful and overwhelming.? Doing more things all the time, and that it is indifferent to the quality, relevance, or meaning of those things, can be overwhelming and generate #stress and ultimately #Burnout.

Productivity should not only be about meeting external expectations, but also meeting our internal motivations. Productivity is not only about compliance, but about autonomy. Productivity is not only about obligation, but about passion.

Allied with a sense of Achievement, ?Productivity is the key step to improving one’s well-being. It is not only about doing more things, but doing the right things.

To have a sense of achievement, it is crucial to “desire” the outcome.

?

What is “Desire”?

Desire is a strong wish to do or have something. It encompasses both our wants and needs. As a consequence, we need to know what we need to do and what we want to do first.

Desire reflects an intense longing or craving for a particular outcome or experience. It can be related to material possessions, achievements, relationships, personal growth, or a sense of responsibility. Unlike mere compliance with external expectations, desire arises from within and is fuelled, by either the search for pleasure or driven by a sense of duty.

Desire is the force that drives us, shapes and comforts our choices, and infuses life with purpose. It’s the spark that ignites our journey toward achievement and well-being

?

Why is “Desire” crucial to achieve?

Desire plays a pivotal role in our pursuit of achievement. It provides the motivation, clarity, and certainty needed to take action.

Napoleon Hill: “The starting point of all achievement is desire.” “Think and Grow Rich” (1937)

Without desire, we might find ourselves spinning our wheels, unsure of our direction. A clear vision allows us to create a roadmap for success. When we can see ourselves achieving our goals, it motivates us to take consistent action. Direction provides the path toward our desired outcome.

Discipline and commitment are necessary to turn desires into reality. Determination, persistence, and self-belief are vital. Obstacles are inevitable, but with a strong desire, we can navigate them. Passion and motivation keep us focused even when challenges arise.

Formula for Happiness

?

What is the impact of Desire on our well-being?

Desire plays a significant role in shaping our emotional experiences and overall well-being. Let’s explore why individuals tend to feel better after fulfilling their desires compared to engaging in undesired activities.

According to the incentive theory, our behaviour is influenced by external rewards or incentives rather than solely internal forces. Some psychologists propose that we are motivated by both internal desires (e.g., going to the gym because it makes us feel better) and external rewards (e.g., working out daily to win a cash prize). When we desire something, it acts as an incentive, pulling us toward behaviours that lead to positive outcomes.

Happiness is closely tied to our expectations. When we desire something and achieve it, our expectations change. We experience a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. In contrast, doing something undesired may not alter our expectations positively, leading to less satisfaction.

When we engage in activities we desire, our motivation remains high, and we feel a sense of purpose. This positive emotional state contributes to overall well-being.

?

In summary, desire acts as a powerful motivator, and achieving desired goals brings a sense of accomplishment and happiness. So, define and embrace your desires, pursue them, and relish the satisfaction they bring!
