Until a few months ago, I had never heard of this term. It’s completely changed the way I see things, the way I see business. As an employee or an entrepreneur, I think it’s an extremely important concept to understand. Why isn’t my solution selling as expected? Why can’t I retain my current customers? But why am I spending so much on the production of my solution that my return on investment is very low? Just one sentence: Because you haven’t adopted the design thinking approach yet.
Design thinking, simply
An extraordinary approach to solution production. It consists of 4 non-linear steps:
- Understanding the user
- Redefining your real problem
- To issue hypotheses of solutions
- Prototype
- Test
Design thinking process
For this first post, I’d like to tell you a little bit more about the first and most important step: Empathize.
All of us as humans can empathize, in other words, put ourselves in someone else’s shoes to the point of feeling their pain and frustration. This marvelous quality is useful to be able to provide our target with a solution that corresponds to him.
We cannot simply imagine our target’s problem, place our ? solution ? in front of them and expect them to buy-in. Many entrepreneurs have faced this sad situation where the target does not want the product or service. Yes, it surely solves a problem but it is not what they need.
Differentiate between what the target wants and what they need, because in the end, they only buy what they need.
If you want to produce innovative solutions, don’t spend months looking for the product of the century, the one you’ve never heard of. In fact, ? There’s nothing new under the sun ?. What will make your solution successful is the ability you have developed to understand your target.

Before we split up, a question: Do you use design thinking for your projects?
