The power in the data you hold
Westward Housing have created what I believe is one of the most innovative, exciting and cost-effective solutions to the management of EPC. Better still, they have achieved this without having to spend around £50,000 over three years on a bespoke EPC solution. The set of slides attached demonstrate what has been achieved simply using a data quality assurance tool (Data Logic) and Microsoft Power BI. The results have gone beyond Westward’s own expectations. They believe the outputs they have are better than those from the specialist software alternative. Their internal efficiency gain has been massive. Previously, they had a manual, spreadsheet-based system that was updated once every 6 months and took 2 people 6 weeks to complete. It is now being done monthly and takes about 20 minutes, which they say will reduce to 10 minutes once it has settled in.
The solution hits a number of Westward’s key strategic priorities:
- ?Identifies the investment required to get properties to C standard or above
- ?Identifies the number of EPCs that need completing
- ?Helps in budgeting the forward maintenance programme
- ?Measures the impacts of CO2 as part of the decarbonisation programme
- ?Benefits customers in terms of potential financial savings
This is a great example of what can be achieved with the type of software that you should already have in order to be regulatory compliant, providing cost savings, enhancing good governance and demonstrating innovation.
Westward will be providing an online demonstration of this EPC Solution on the 12th December at 11:00. If you would like to attend, please send an email to nicky.Hawkins@3cconsultants.co.uk.

HACT | Retrofit Credits
1 å¹´Very interesting indeed Colin. The work done by 3C Consultants and Westward Housing Group sounds fascinating and insightful. This could also benefit from the Retrofit Credits programme to create further impact for the decarbonisation of homes and the support of the people living in them.
