Leadership is an essential quality that is highly sought after in almost every organization, and Wisselbanck ?? works together with leading institutions and scholars to bring the best executive programs to leaders in banking and financial services. However, many people struggle to become good leaders, and one reason is that they do not understand the importance of consistency. In this article, we will explore how consistency is crucial to both leadership and relationships.
The Problem with Intensity
Many people approach leadership with intensity. They attend leadership conferences, invite speakers, and receive certificates, like at our recent Banking Renaissance Retreat, often thinking that these activities make them good leaders. However, while these things are essential for learning new lessons and reminding us of our goals, they are not enough to make us good leaders.
Consistency is Key
Consistency is the key to effective leadership. Just like going to the gym, leadership is about transitions. When you work out at the gym, you will not see any results immediately. Similarly, when you start practicing good leadership, you may not see any immediate results. However, if you stick with it consistently, you will eventually become a better leader.

The Power of Little Things
People often focus on the big events and moments, thinking that these are what make a good leader. However, it is the little things that matter the most. For example, saying "good morning" to someone, asking them how their day is going and listening to their answer, or getting someone a drink without being asked. These little things may seem insignificant, but they accumulate over time and show people that you care.
Relationships and Consistency
Consistency is also important in relationships. Just like with leadership, people often focus on the big events and gestures. However, it is the little things that make a relationship work. Remembering birthdays and anniversaries is great, but it is the everyday acts of kindness, such as saying "good morning" or listening to your partner's problems, that show them that you care. Consistency in these little things builds trust and strengthens relationships over time.
Conclusion
In conclusion, consistency is the key to effective leadership and relationships. While big events and gestures are essential for learning and reminding us of our goals, it is the little things that matter the most. Practicing good leadership and showing kindness and care in relationships consistently may not yield immediate results, but over time, they accumulate and build trust and love. Remember, it is not about the intensity of your actions but the consistency of your efforts.
