Future-Proofing Properties with PropTech Solutions
As PropTech continues to mature, the integration of connected smart locks is not just about convenience—it’s about future-proofing properties in an increasingly competitive market. Properties equipped with modern access control systems are more attractive to potential tenants, who value the security, flexibility, and technology that smart locks offer.
Furthermore, the data generated by these locks provides valuable insights into building usage patterns, helping property managers optimize operational efficiency and create tailored resident experiences. In a data-driven world, smart locks are becoming essential tools for maximizing the value of property assets.
Seamless Access Control for Property Managers
For property managers, the days of juggling keys and managing physical access are quickly becoming a thing of the past. With smart locks integrated into a centralized property management platform, access control becomes seamless, allowing managers to remotely grant or revoke entry permissions, track activity logs, and even set schedules for maintenance and cleaning teams.
These systems eliminate the need for time-consuming lock changes when tenants move out, significantly improving turnover efficiency and cutting costs. According to a report by the National Apartment Association (NAA), smart lock systems can reduce vacancy times by 5-10 days, allowing property managers to lease units faster. Instead of changing locks, managers can simply update access credentials remotely, maintaining full control over who enters the property—whether it's a new tenant, vendor, or service provider. This also avoids the hassle of physical rekeying, which can cost up to $150 per door and take several hours to complete.
Enhanced Security and Convenience for Tenants
For residents, the benefits of connected smart locks go beyond convenience. No more worries about misplaced keys or being locked out. Smart locks can be operated via smartphone apps, keypads, or even voice commands, making entry effortless while adding an extra layer of security.

Moreover, smart locks often integrate with other smart home devices, allowing residents to control their entire living environment—lights, thermostats, and even security cameras—all from a single interface. This level of integration not only enhances the living experience but also adds value to the property, appealing to tech-savvy renters looking for modern, secure homes. In fact, a study by RentCafe found that 57% of renters are willing to pay more for apartments with smart home features, demonstrating the strong demand for properties equipped with connected technology that offers convenience and enhanced security.
Driving Operational Efficiency and Cost Savings
Smart locks bring undeniable cost savings to property owners and managers. By automating access control, property managers can significantly reduce the administrative burden of manual lock management. Smart locks also reduce travel time for maintenance teams and property managers, who no longer need to physically visit properties to provide access. This leads to an estimated 20% reduction in operational costs for multi-family buildings, according to SmartRent.
Additionally, remote access systems reduce the need for onsite personnel during leasing tours or property viewings. Zillow found that properties offering self-guided tours leased up 22% faster than those using traditional methods, allowing managers to focus on other essential tasks and reduce vacancy rates.
Conclusion: Embracing the Future of Property Management
The power of connected smart locks in the PropTech space is clear. They simplify operations, enhance security, and improve the overall tenant experience. As more property owners and managers embrace this technology, it’s evident that smart locks are not just a trend but a critical component in the future of property management.
By staying ahead of the curve and investing in smart lock solutions, property professionals can deliver unparalleled value to their tenants while streamlining their operations—making smart locks a must-have in the modern PropTech ecosystem.

5 个月It’s been exciting to see the trends and changes in the category over the last couple of years. The hardware has advanced, but I think even more importantly the software side of things has drastically improved. As a “smart community” becomes the standard, I am excited to see how the different companies set themselves apart from an experience standpoint for both the property management team and the end users. Also as more devices are added to the portfolio, there is added workload and logistics planning required on the integrator side to ensure the project can start on time and efficiently. It’s an awesome time to be in this space and I can’t wait to continue to watch/help it grow!
