Here’s how we’ve supported our community in the past several weeks:?

National Association of Volunteers?

As we bask in the warmth of summer, it's important to remember that the soaring temperatures also bring heightened risks of wildfires.?

?

Bulgaria has been ravaged by wildfires for the last two weeks. It’s been especially hard for the Harmanli and Otets Paisievo municipalities in Haskovo and Plovdiv provinces, and Voden and Gorska Polyana municipality in Yambol province.?

?

Our brave firefighters are doing their best, but they need our help.??

?

So, this month Expert Allies is partnering with the National Association of Volunteers in the Republic of Bulgaria. Our contribution went towards equipment for the volunteer fire fighters.? ?

The NAVRB itself was established a decade ago, and assists during natural disasters like fires, floods, and earthquakes. They have 800 trained volunteers on 50 teams across the country. These volunteers have been crucial in combating the wildfires in Bulgaria, saving hundreds of acres of land and protecting inhabited areas.?

?We love our country and we’re hoping to save as much of its nature and history as possible.?

?

That’s why we decided to also help a wonderful local commnunity center.?

?

Voynyagovo’s Community Center?

Our charity work took us to Voynyagovo, a picturesque Bulgarian village rich in history and tradition.?

It is located in the northern skirts of Sredna Gora and is part of Karlovo Municipality, Plovdiv Province. It has played the role of a military settlement during the Second Bulgarian Kingdom and later on turned into a refuge for immigrants from various parts of the country during the Ottoman rule. Revolutionary and national hero Vasil Levski used to be a teacher in the village betwen 1864 –1866.?

As you can see, Voynyagovo is pretty important to our country’s history. Which means it is important to us.?

?

We chose to make donations towards the refurbishing efforts of the local community center. It is celebrating 125 years of efforts to preserve the love and appreciation of Bulgarian culture.?

?

But preserving the past is not our only goal. We also want to ensure a brighter future:?

BIODERMA Women’s Run?

?

Since 2019, BIODERMA Bulgaria has been teaming up with Begach Running Club to organize the first running competition for women only. 20% of the funds from fees for participation go to "School Without Borders".??

?

This is an initiative of the Association "Children with Oncohematological Diseases". They aim to provide children undergoing oncological treatment with the opportunity to continue their education in a hospital environment. "School Without Borders" supply tablets, licenses for a digital platform and professional support from hospital teachers. That way, young patients can continue their education.?

Our lovely colleague Toni-Teodora Koseva participated in this years’ running competition in June.? The running part itself is impressive enough, but she took it up a notch and showed up in a bridal gown.? ?
