This week, Emerald City Music kicked off the first-ever Fall fund-drive. This ambitious community effort seeks to raise $12,000 by November 8th and $97,000 by December 31st, 2016. These funds are crucial in the short term to putting music on stage in Seattle, Tacoma, and Olympia through the Spring season. In the long term, this drive will fund some really key needs, like paying our full-time staff for the first time, and launching two new community outreach partnerships in South Lake Union.
Audience members received a letter in the mail last week with a note from Pianist Gloria Chien (pictured above). Gloria was a featured artist on our inaugural season opening night. Read below what Gloria had to say:

What an honor it was for me to be part of the inaugural concert at Emerald City Music in September! Thank you for coming to join us for this exciting new chamber music series in Seattle, Tacoma and Olympia.
As a concert pianist and Artistic Director of String Theory Chamber Music Series in Chattanooga, I know the labor involved in building an established institution – it takes great leadership, artistic vision, attention to detail, determination and the ability to connect with people - you could not have asked for better leaders than violinist Kristin Lee (Artistic Director) and arts leader Andrew Goldstein (Executive Director). Both Kristin and Andrew are not only visionary leaders who are passionate about their art, but they also have a wealth of experience which allows them to bring the best chamber music and musicians to your region. You have something very special here in Emerald City Music!
In the coming weeks, Kristin and Andrew will be reaching out to ask for your support of Emerald City Music’s Fall fund-drive. Your contribution to their community goal of $97,000 will sustain this exciting project through the 2016/17 season, and place it on firm footing for its second season. I know I speak for my colleagues when I say that Emerald City Music has the potential to become one of the most notable chamber music series around the country. We're so fortunate to have artists like Gloria grace our stages in Seattle, Tacoma, and Olympia. After opening night, we heard quotes from the community like, “I’ve never experienced music so personally before”, and “Finally, a place where I can skip the Seattle-freeze and actually meet some interesting people!”, and news publications echoed these sentiments, calling Emerald City Music, “A wild success...” (CityArts Magazine) and “thoughtfully eclectic…” (Seattle Weekly).

Today, as we kickoff the Fall fund-drive, we are reminded of the value Emerald City Music brings to the Puget Sound community. Not only are concerts among the most innovative and inter-connected classical music experiences out there, but we've enjoyed bringing classical music into the heart of the community as well. Outreach efforts, such as free concerts in South Lake Union's Cascade Park, have collaboratively brought people of diverse backgrounds together to experience something deeply moving.
We have been so thrilled with the community's excitement about Emerald City Music so far. And now we need your help this Fall to keep these efforts thriving in Seattle, Tacoma, and Olympia.
