The power of a coaching community
One of the industry challenges that Coach Matters set out to solve was the belief that being a coach means working alone. As coaches we’re so focused on supporting our clients, we often neglect our own connections and understanding of how vital cultivating rich networks can be – to our business’ health as well as our own. There are cultural issues at play, too. The notion that we need to be in competition with other coaches, rather than collaborating and growing together. Which is why community and connection underpin everything that Coach Matters provides its members. And we believe that cultivating a coaching community can ultimately help our careers thrive, alongside marketing, sales and business skills.?
So how does this work in practice? As a Coach Matters member you get the opportunity to attend regular Business Development workshops, designed and run by coaches for coaches. Themes include who you want to work with, how you reach clients and topics focus on the skills and tools you need to do just that. They also enable more established coaches to take stock and review where they are, identifying any gaps, challenges and opportunities. Just as importantly, experienced practitioners help you create space and time to think, plan and act. There are informal drop-in sessions, where you can ask questions, explore issues and reach conclusions. As well as an online community and online resources. Group and 1:1 coaching, mentoring and training complete the picture. The thread that runs through all of this is the connections made, the trust-based and confidential conversations that take place, the tailored and relevant support and advice received; as well as the regular morale, motivation and mindset boosts. As our members comment, knowing that you are not alone is in itself powerful. It is also possible to have some fun along the way, too!
There are other benefits to belonging to a coaching network in which you learn skills and connect with others. It’s knowing that you are bringing your values to life; as part of the Coach Matters community of coaches, you really get the chance to think through the values you want to align your own business with. Working alongside other purpose-led, authentic, sustainable coaching businesses, for example.?
It also inspires collaboration. Scaling your coaching proposition can reap rewards; you can reach more clients and enjoy the diverse thinking and skills that working as a team brings. Your professional coaching network could be an untapped resource of growth.
