The Power of Choice
What is the DaVita bridge?
I get this question a lot, and in short, it represents the incredible power of choice.
For me, there’s no greater symbol for a concept that has propelled my life forward—it’s the act of committing to something. You can stand on one side, paralyzed by indecision and waiting to see what can or will happen. Or you can put one foot in front of the other, committed to realizing the other side of a choice.
‘Crossing the bridge’ is not a singular moment in time. Throughout our lives, we come up against countless challenges and set myriad goals. I wanted to share the above picture with Brenda Scott from our Villagewide event a few weeks ago. Brenda recently celebrated 50 years as a DaVita teammate. While her career could be perceived as a singular choice, it’s actually a culmination of daily choices to show up strongly for her team and patients. Brenda was recognized by her team for her work to support them as their leader.
The bridge is a reminder of the choices we must make to accomplish what we set out to do.?

2 年I’m coming up on my 10th year with the village, and crossing the bridge at academy was one of my most cherished memories. Along with guiding others (as a red shirt) along their journey as they crossed the bridge. I’m hoping we can bring academy back soon!?

2 年What is going on with Davita leadership? Why is Davita loosing its backbone most valuable highly trained and most tenured employees? All while experiencing epic staffing turnover/shortages. Has Davita stopped working for it's patients and is only focused on generating wealth for its shareholders? What's really going on? Maybe Javier Rodriguez is the problem. Is their a need for a leadership change? Is it the board? Who's driving all the negative change? It is sad too see the quality conditions of treatment at Davita continue to deteriorate because of high turnover of new poorly trained staff. It has been heartbreaking to see all these nurses and PCT's leave because of unfavorable work conditions. As a result we the patients suffer the consequences of dealing with staff that was crash course trained and has a poor understanding of the equipment they work with as well as the access sites they work with. Hence generating a high volume of critical errors and blood loss.

2 年The symbolism of the bridge spoke to me from the moment I was introduced to it. The act of walking across the bridge solidified it. Each day is a commitment to the why.
