CONFIDENCE IN ENGLISH with Jackie

Hi all! Today I want to talk about the Power of Passionate Communication that Connects Ideas and Builds Relationships.
When coaching professionals in English, I also share suggestions on how to communicate in a way that people will listen, and I've noticed that, while it's great to be passionate and enthusiastic about our ideas, but we often overlook the importance of establishing a genuine connection with the person we're engaging with.
When we share our ideas with passion, it's often because we believe strongly in them. However, in our pursuit to "conquer" others, (because, in a way, this is what we are doing) we may unintentionally overlook their perspectives, feelings, and ideas. We forget to build a relationship and truly understand their viewpoint.
Taking the time to establish a relationship and actively listen to others is crucial.
By seeking their input, asking questions, and understanding their emotions, we create an environment where people feel heard, valued, and more inclined to engage. This inclusive approach fosters collaboration and enriches the discussion.
Yes, it may require a little more time and effort to be a good communicator and listener, but the results are worth it. By striking a balance between sharing our ideas with passion and genuinely connecting with others, we create a space for meaningful dialogue. We allow diverse perspectives to emerge and enable collaboration that benefits everyone involved.
Take a moment to observe the leaders you admire. Chances are, they possess a remarkable ability to share their ideas and passions while ensuring others feel heard. They cultivate relationships, invite input, and create an environment of inclusivity. They understand that true influence comes from building connections, not from overpowering others.
Becoming a skilled communicator, including being an active listener, requires effort and practice. Start by consciously observing your communication style.
Are you allowing room for others to share their thoughts?
Are you genuinely seeking their input and considering their perspectives?
Here are some questions you can ask, when sharing your ideas:
??"What are your initial thoughts or impressions about this idea/proposal?"

??"How do you think this idea/proposal aligns with our current goals/objectives?"
??"What potential benefits do you see in implementing this idea/proposal?"
??"Do you have any concerns or reservations about this idea/proposal? If so, what are they?"
??"In your opinion, what are the potential challenges we might face in implementing this idea/proposal?"
??"How do you think this idea/proposal can be improved or made even more effective?"
??"Have you encountered similar situations before? If yes, what strategies or approaches have you found successful?"
??"What kind of support or resources do you think would be necessary to implement this idea/proposal?"
??"Can you share any alternative ideas or suggestions that we could consider alongside this proposal?"
??"How do you think this idea/proposal would impact our team/department/organization in the long term?"
Remember, the goal is to create an open and inclusive space for discussion, where everyone feels comfortable sharing their thoughts, perspectives, and ideas. Actively listening to their responses and considering their input will help foster a collaborative environment and enhance the overall quality of your ideas and proposals.
