The power of Care Studio in your pocket

We recently shared that we’re introducing a mobile app as part of our Care Studio tool for clinicians. Care Studio harmonizes data from different EHRs and uses machine learning to help clinicians more easily find the information they need. At Google Health, we’re always thinking about how to make our tools more useful for clinicians and ultimately the patients they serve, and are excited to bring the capabilities of Care Studio to mobile.?

We understand that clinicians are always on the go, rounding from one patient to the next and often traveling between sites or when they’re consulting a patient, prefer not to have a large computer creating a barrier to conversation. Despite this, healthcare mobile apps have historically been constrained by the mass of medical data they’re forced to address – it can be difficult to quickly navigate through tools to find the information they need on a mobile screen. Information overload can be challenging for clinicians, particularly on mobile devices with smaller screens.??

Our goal is to help clinicians make sense of a patient’s story faster, and in a mobile environment. Clinicians can access our medically-tuned search capabilities to search across the multiple data sources that make up a patient record, quickly finding the information they need. For instance, clinicians can:?

• Quickly find an overview of a patient’s history before a consultation
• Easily check if a patient has ever had a particular condition, test, medication prescription, etc. while on the way to see them
• Review newest results and changes since their last visit, and check results of new studies run since the last consult?

Health information is private and sensitive, and we have built privacy and security features into the mobile app to comply with HIPAA requirements and regulations keeping patient data safe and secure. Just as with our desktop tool, no patient data is stored on the user’s device. We don’t own patient data, or use it for advertising.?It is encrypted and isolated in a controlled access environment, separate from other Google customer data and consumer data.
