The Power Of Blogging: How, In Less Than A Year, I've Made My Blog A Success

Blogging, in this day and age, is more than just a hobby. When you're passionate about a subject, it pretty much consumes your mind on a day-to-day basis. What you're going to write about next, which topic interests you, why you should write about something, the list is endless, and this is where I am right now.
I started my blog - The Naomi Narrative - in August last year. For those of you who don't know, I write a dating, sex and relationships blog. It sounds slightly risque but I can comfortably assure you it's a pretty light hearted, eclectic mix of short form writing where hilarity prevails and a message is always clear.
I began writing as a means to vent about a pretty bad date I'd been on, and gained a significant amount of positive feedback, which was pretty unexpected albeit really pleasing to me as you can imagine. With this in mind, I continued to write about all things related to the niche I'd found myself in within the dating industry.
Within 11 months:
- I have over 12,000 followers of The Naomi Narrative
- I was shortlisted by Cosmopolitan Magazine for "Best Blog for Sex & Relationships 2015"
- I won "Highly Commended Dating Blogger 2016" at The UK Blog Awards
- I have appeared on various radio shows
- I was featured in Look Magazine (& soon to be others too!)
- I have been commissioned to write for various online websites
- I have been approached to be part of a television series
Guys, this is all within the space of a year. I can't quite believe what a year it's been when I look back, but I am thrilled with everything that's come from my blog and I feel like I haven't even scratched the surface as of yet. The important thing to remember is that I stuck to it. I was always researching new topics to focus on, reading a whole lotta books to improve my vocabulary and finding the time to really put my thoughts down. I was committed, and it's paying off.
Even now, my outside life as a blogger has come into my career, as my business - LUCKY 52 - specialises in both social media and blogging. Now that I've found my niche in blogging and experienced some tremendous successes from doing so, my business partner (and fellow blogger) Paul Thomas Bell and I are beginning to host blogging workshops in Glasgow so that we're able to help others get into the mindset of being a great blogger (so if you'd like to hear more about that, drop me a wee line!)
I am (and will always be) truly humbled by everyone who follows my blog and takes the time to read what I write. Truth is, I always thought my ramblings wouldn't appeal to anyone so thank you for supporting me in something I love!
