THE POWER OF A BILLION SUNS

Stating that the sun is powerful would be a massive understatement.?Here are a couple of facts to consider.?One second of output of the sun’s energy could power the earth (think all human energy consumption) for 688,000 years.?That is 1 second!?Thankfully only a teeny-tiny fraction of that energy ever hits the earth; 1 part in 2 billion to be specific.?

I bring this marvel up today as we are on the precipice of another marvel – a wonder that is even more difficult to grasp than the power of the sun.?More difficult to grasp because this wonder involves the one who created the sun – in fact, it involves the creator of a billion+ suns.?If our sun is so powerful, and there are billions of suns, how powerful must the one who created those suns be??Impossible to wrap your head around this idea - but it is fun to try!

Now here is where the wonder of my post begins; that creator wants each and every one of us to choose to be grafted into that very power – the power that has the ability to create a billion suns.?He desires that we be united to him as a branch is to a vine.?What he is offering to us is hard to fully grasp in our weak human state, but we do know something about what is being offered:?LOVE – the most powerful force in existence.?If God is Love and God is all powerful then Love is all powerful.?And Love showed up in a manger roughly 2,000 years ago.?Love gave of himself completely, for our benefit, knowing exactly what that would cost Him.?He was completely other-focused.?There is no namby-pamby sentimentality in that kind of Love – the mission of which is simply to will the good of others.?

My 2022 goal is unrealistically idealistic (to be sure) as it is to be like Him – to be grafted to a power so immense it allows one to completely forget about themselves, even through the most difficult times, and focus entirely on others.?I am sure I will experience much failure – but I am going to try my best.
