?? Power BI Tips & Tricks - Formatting values based on comparison with target value

It is very often the situation where we need to create one summary table with different KPIs. Each KPI is compared to a different target value defined for example in the business plan. To make this table user-friendly we would like to highlight values that are above or below the defined target.

To do so we can write DAX measure that will compare values with its target and return 0 if KPI underperforms, or 1 if KPI outperforms. This is a basic scenario, a more graduated approach could be applied by using a detailed color scale.

This measure then can be used as a conditional format rule in visual and appropriate color can be assigned for the given measure output.
