Power BI: 10 Things I hate about you

Ah, Power BI. A golden ticket to the world of data visualization, a lifeline for any organization wishing to uncover their innermost data-driven secrets. It's a majestic tool, powerful, insightful, and like any other software out there - annoying at times.
But why talk about the nice stuff when we can whine about the annoying bits? So, sit back, grab your strongest coffee (you'll need it), and let's get into the top 10 things that make me want to throw my laptop out the window when I'm using Power BI.
**1. The Eternal Loading Spinner**
Have you ever tried to load a massive dataset and ended up watching that tiny blue loading circle for an hour? It's like watching a soap opera, but less dramatic and more agonizing.
**2. The "Too Many Values" Warning**
Yes, Power BI, I understand that there are more than 1,000 unique values in this column. That's why it's called "Big Data".?
**3. Updates That Break Everything**
You know the drill: you've just gotten comfortable with the latest update when, WHAM, another one pops up. And of course, it's not complete without breaking a few of your most loved features.
**4. DAX - The Dark Side of Power BI**
DAX, Power BI's query language. A godsend for data manipulation and an absolute nightmare for beginners. You've got to love how it throws errors that make you feel like you're solving a cryptic crossword puzzle.
**5. The Mystery of the Disappearing Filters**
It's like a magic trick. You spend hours perfecting your filters, step away for a quick lunch, and POOF - they vanish into thin air. Abraca-data!

**6. Inflexibility with Excel**
You'd think Microsoft would ensure perfect compatibility between Power BI and Excel. Well, think again. Sometimes, it feels like they're siblings who refuse to share their toys.
**7. Refresh Limitations**
That "8 times a day" refresh limit on the Pro version. Thank you, Power BI, for reminding us of the value of patience.
**8. The Battle of the Browsers**
For some reason, Power BI has more mood swings than a teenager when it comes to browsers. You're using Chrome? Sorry, no. Firefox? Nope. Opera? Now you're just getting desperate.
**9. The Case of the Missing Features**
Ever needed a feature that just isn't there? It’s like craving a dessert at a steakhouse. Come on, Power BI, where's the pie (chart)?
**10. The Price Tag for Premium**
While Power BI’s free version is like a fun house party, the Premium one is more like a yacht club event. The features are nice, but the price? It can sting more than a champagne cork to the eye.
But hey, let’s not forget: every tool has its quirks. Sure, Power BI can be the overzealous magician that pulls out a rabbit when you asked for a pigeon. But at the end of the day, it’s still a pretty powerful tool to have up your sleeve (and certainly less messy than a pigeon).?
So, next time Power BI gets you down, remember: it's not you, it's the software. Or at least, that's what I tell myself.

10 个月The application is built on a conveyor belt. Just when you've gotten comfortable with something, the PBI team either changes it or adds something new and you just never keep up with learning everything. That aside, Power BI Desktop is one thing. Then there's DAX. I've seen it written more than once, if you know physics, you can learn DAX. But wait, there's M, which mostly doesn't resemble DAX at all. If learning PBI desktop, service, modeling, dataflows, data gateways, reports, dashboards, apps, power query, pipelines, DAX and M seems like fun, have at it.
