The Power of Belief

The Power of Belief

Raise Your EQ (Emotional Intelligence)

Numerous elements factor into achieving success in life, and emotional intelligence plays a pivotal role.

International best-selling author and science journalist Daniel Goleman even suggests it's responsible for 80 percent of the components needed for achieving life success.

Yet, despite the known importance of understanding our emotions and the mindsets of those around us, an individual still needs self-belief to make their dreams come true.

We will only get far if we believe in ourselves enough to apply for jobs or start businesses.

However, allowing fear of failure to rule over us can often lead us into self-sabotaging behavior patterns — thwarting any initial successes!

Therefore, as Goleman reminds us: “We must remember that 'I can't do this' is a crippling thought."

Self-belief is the key to success. Numerous examples of famous people prove this to be true.

Take Oprah Winfrey, fired from her first news job for being too emotional when reading the news. Arnold Schwarzenegger also faced rejection, having an agent tell him he had a 'bizarre accent, body and name.’

And J.K Rowling? She was rejected 12 times by publishers before Harry Potter went on to become one of the biggest successes ever!

Thankfully these amazing people didn't give up when told they weren't 'good enough.’ Instead, they pushed forward despite criticism and are now widely admired for their accomplishments.

Therefore, it's essential to have confidence in yourself and your dreams - don't give up, no matter how difficult it may seem!

Successful people today have achieved great success due to their ability to pick themselves up and move forward, even in the face of rejection, criticism, and firing.

Self-empowerment plays a significant role in this process; it entails utilizing self-compassion, self-reassurance, and determination when faced with powerlessness and roadblocks.

This may be accomplished through entrusting oneself with the Law Of Attraction, positive affirmations, and especially believing in one's capabilities–even when circumstances appear unfavorable.

Moreover, such beliefs are incredibly potent tools that directly impact professional performance and increase earnings.

Jeremy Lazarus, an NLP expert and trainer, tackles the impact of beliefs in his book "NLP: THE ESSENTIAL BUSINESS HANDBOOK".

He presents a case study of two equal sales professionals in ability and experience. After their company shifted to cater to high-priced service clients, one manager hesitated that it would be hard to make a substantial sale. At the same time, the other was enthusiastic about this change.

Later, it was discovered that the relieved manager was more successful in closing deals than his concerned colleague.

It is vital to assess our self-beliefs - are they holding us back or leading us forward?

Criticisms and failures can test our beliefs, but opportunities will follow if we believe in ourselves and what we sell/do.

Only stepping out of our comfort zone occasionally takes us into more significant ventures!

Thank you, Rachelle Carrié Raise Your EQ Coach Keynote Speaker, for this beautiful reminder. I have struggled with my confidence lately as I plunge into new business spaces. So I turned to my faith this weekend and was led to a great book, "The Confidence Code" by Katty Kay & Claire Shipman. Practical and science-based understanding of why confidence differs for men and women. It helped me feel a lot better and increased my EQ.
