The Power of Being Yourself in Business – How to Unlock Your True Value

I came across an old picture today—one of those photos where I used to make funny faces on purpose to "ruin" the shot. At the time, I didn’t realize that the reason I did this was deeper than just trying to be silly. I wasn’t yet comfortable with who I was.
I was already successful in some areas of my life, but I didn’t fully embrace the value I brought to the table, especially when it came to my own identity. I thought success meant perfection, or at least a certain image of what success should look like. But as I reflect back, I realize the real key to growth wasn’t in trying to perfect myself or chase after what others had. It was about accepting who I was and leveraging the strengths that came naturally to me.
Undervaluing What Comes Naturally
In the hustle of entrepreneurship, it's easy to overlook the things that come easily to us. We often undervalue the strengths that feel "ordinary" to us because they come so naturally. We look at competitors or other business owners and start thinking their strategies are more valuable because they seem harder to attain, more complex, or out of reach.
But here’s the truth: the things that come easily to you—those things you take for granted—are often the most valuable. What you see as “normal” might be exactly what someone else is struggling to achieve. And the world is full of people who need what you have to offer.
Seeing Yourself Through the Eyes of Others
The turning point in my journey was understanding that my value—both personally and professionally—wasn’t tied to perfection. It was about what I was already doing well and how I could use those skills to help others. As a business coach, I’ve had the privilege of working with small business owners, helping them see their own unique strengths and guiding them to turn those strengths into tangible results.
When you can look at your business and see what you do well—without taking it for granted—that’s when the magic happens. The key to growth isn’t just about learning new skills or adopting the latest business trend. It’s about fully understanding what you offer, why it matters, and how you can position it as a unique asset in your industry.
The Mindset Shift: Be Yourself, Express Yourself, and Have Faith in Yourself
This might sound simple, but for many entrepreneurs, it’s the hardest thing to do. We’re constantly chasing after new opportunities, learning new strategies, or trying to copy what our competitors are doing. But here’s the secret: the biggest leap you can make in business starts with being yourself.
Be authentic. Express who you are and what you bring to the table. And, most importantly, have faith in yourself and your journey. Business growth doesn’t happen overnight, and the road is rarely linear. But when you trust in your abilities and stay true to your values, success will follow.

How I Help My Clients Embrace Their Value
As a coach, I help business owners step into their full potential by identifying what makes their business unique, what their strengths are, and how they can best serve their clients. I’ve worked with clients across various industries, helping them refine their approaches to marketing, sales, and leadership—all through the lens of what they already do well.
My goal isn’t just to help clients grow their businesses. It's to help them find peace with who they are as business owners. It’s about building confidence in the value they bring, so they can confidently lead their teams and create businesses that work for them—without burning out in the process.
A Final Thought
Looking back, I see that funny face I made in that picture as a symbol of the struggle I went through to truly embrace who I was. Today, I don’t try to hide my true self behind a mask. I’ve learned that the more authentic you are, the more valuable your business becomes.
If you’re a business owner struggling to see the value in what you offer, I encourage you to take a step back. Look at what you do well. Look at what others admire about your work. Recognize the unique skills that only you bring to the table, and start making that the foundation of your business growth strategy.
Results don’t always happen overnight, but they will come when you stop chasing after what you don’t have and start embracing what you already do.
