A query popped into my inbox from a client named Steve, "I'm torn between launching a podcast or writing a book, Tony Maree. Which tactic would be a game-changer for establishing my authority and expanding my circle?"

That's a ??sparkling question! Let's dive into it. When it comes to climbing the ladder of authority and growing your audience, it's crucial to understand that they aren't the same thing. Instead, they're two sides of a three-sided coin I like to call 'The Triangle of Trust'.

1. ?? Lead Generation: The first corner of this triangle. It's all about filling your funnel, transforming interested parties into promising leads and setting the stage for those all-important appointments.

2. ?? Warming Up Prospects: The second corner involves kindling a connection with your prospects. Keep them engaged via LinkedIn messages, your very own LinkedIn newsletter or emails, until they're ready to take the leap and invest in your services.

3. ?? Establishing Authority: And finally, the third corner, is all about showcasing your expertise, positioning yourself as a trusted, knowledgeable professional in the financial industry.

While it's possible to build authority that generates leads simultaneously, it's essential to view these three corners as separate yet interconnected parts of your strategy.

Now, circling back to your original question, Steve... ?? Whether you choose to write a book or start a podcast, they both can serve as mighty pillars of authority. However, have you considered the unique advantages of writing a short, helpful book? ???

I agree with @Walter that guesting on other podcasts that already have a large audience, especially if it is an audience Steve wants to sell his products to is a good place to start. Now with AI ( be it good or bad) , he can have AI write his book for him. Great article with strong action points

As a writer, I'm bound to plump for a book (I've written two), because it is more authoritative (see how that word has 'author' in it?!) -- provided the content is relevant and well written. I know from my own experience that writing a book forces you to master your topic and see links btw disparate aspects of it you may not have seen before.
