Big businesses don’t have personality. They have to depend on the style, image and attitude of their expensive brand ambassadors to show off their personality.?
Small businesses may not have big budgets, but they have personality, if their owners have a personality. The branding of a small business depends a lot on how the small business owner thinks about his business and his customers. That unique thinking brings out the power of branding of a small business. This branding then makes its presence felt in the mind of consumers and makes it memorable.?
Small Business Branding Examples To Inspire Business Owners
1/ Tentsile, USA
Tentsile is a USA based small business company that creates Tree Tents & Hammocks. They have created a sense of identity from their branding by focusing on a particular outdoor lifestyle. They connect with their prospects through display of their products in actual settings around forests and trees. Their brand photographs evoke an emotion of adventure and calls out to people who love hiking, camping and the outdoor lifestyle.?
Bonus: They also plant trees for every product they sell.??
Their Facebook bio:?
Elevate your next adventure with our award-winning Tree Tents & Hammocks. 20 trees planted for each one sold - over 950,000??s planted so far! Follow us for stories & news from the Forest, & discover the range. See you in the Trees!
2/ Finfolk Productions, USA
Finfolk Productions is another USA based small business. The product they sell is unique. They sell mermaid tails. Yup!
So, naturally their products are colourful, which means their brand is also the same. It makes people take notice. You could ask in a surprised manner, “Who buys mermaid tail?” Well, this product may be visible in parties or events, so those kinds of guys buy mermaid tails. But this small business doesn’t talk about its utility. It talks about the kind of positive emotions the customer would feel looking like a mermaid.?
Their Facebook bio:?
Swimmable, realistic, silicone mermaid tails. Handcrafted custom orders.
3/ Imperfect Produce, USA
Imperfect Produce is a small business based in the US. They have a stated objective that they deliver groceries that help to fight food waste as they save a lot of food going into waste bins. They have a business model where some of their grocery items look quirky, and the size is irregular, even surplus.
Furthermore, they get it from their suppliers who would have otherwise thrown out those grocery items, or it would have been undervalued. The items themselves are delicious and high-quality, except for how they look. This small business has branded itself with such quirky sized grocery items and their social media branding is also based on it.
Their Facebook bio:
Delivering groceries on a mission to eliminate food waste and build a better food system for everyone.?
At Imperfect, we believe that there is no reason to waste perfectly good food. We’re working to eliminate food waste and build a better food system for everyone by sourcing foods that might otherwise go to waste and delivering them right to your door for up to 30% less than grocery store prices. All boxes are customizable (you pick which items you'd like to receive) and filled with affordable, delicious fresh produce and grocery staples.?
What This Means
If your small business can be known for something specific and memorable, you have a much better chance of standing out from your competitors. Being bold and colourful also helps. The big plus is if you can highlight some social service in your branding that is being achieved by your small business brand.?
Hope you got some idea how small businesses can win the game of attracting the attention of their consumers.
