The Power of Attitude

A few years back, I met a man through a network. I immediately took a dislike to him. He had done nothing wrong to me. He had said nothing to offend me. But, I just couldn't shake the feeling of dislike.

It bothered me the whole day long after the networking was over and deep into the night before bedtime.

Come the morning, I realised what it was. The man had a terrible attitude. And, it wasn't so much about the words he used, which were kind of negative come to think about it, it was more about the attitude he exuded. And, the attitude was one that followed him around like a dark cloud.

He was not a pleasant person to be around. And, I confirmed whether it was just me or if others felt the same way. My reservations were confirmed.

So, it got me thinking about how important attitude is in business. You can quickly pick up a good vs. a bad attitude in people, and most will steer away from the latter. In addition, having a bad attitude about life in general will eventually resonate into all aspects of your world, and that includes people, money and your business.

A good attitude can have an amazing effect on your life. A quote that summarises it very nicely is - "Nurture your mind with great thoughts, for you will never go any higher than you think." Benjamin Disraeli
