The Power of “Acknowledgement”

I am compelled to share my experience as a Black American receiving and reading all of the CEO Letters & Emails received in my inbox from corporations and organizations in support of recognizing Black Lives Matter and racial injustice has been a surprisingly emotional yet enlightening experience for me personally. But why? 

The idea of the Acknowledgement is the core reason. It sounds so simple I know, but it is truly the main difference as Step 1 of recognizing fundamentally that racial issues still exist and with the understanding that our fears, frustrations and pain are real. Some may say well… Corporations are just making a fake political stand and will not institute any change, to conclude that it’s all just cheap talk. 

However, when Black people have been conditioned to repeatedly suppress feelings, subconsciously remain invisible, taught to keep a brave face and just keep pressing forward after so many inflammatory injustices have been totally overlooked or disregarded, this Step 1 of simply receiving Acknowledgment is a Powerful statement of support. This is something we have never seen before in such a beautiful magnitude of diverse support. Thank You.  

 Acknowledgment is a critical step in moving forward as a global community, as it incites HOPE.  

This is an extraordinary time in History to inspire change and is shockingly therapeutic to see and feel the support, accountability with a plan of measurable action.  This applies to all who are standing up, sending emails of support, participating in peaceful Protests with us around the world. Thank you for Saying Their Names and Giving it Meaning.

So, in closing I want to take a moment to just Thank All who have provided support to the Tapestry of Activism: This includes Corporations, Organizations. Groups, Individuals that are standing up for Black Lives Matter and addressing Racial Injustices head-on, here are just a few:
