The Power of 3rd person vision
I have recently been going through some cognitive learning exercises that have really had a positive impact on all aspects of my life from work to family to community.
The most powerful of these is the ability to view a situation in the 3rd person, see below benefits of exercising the brain to gain greater clarity.
Power of 3: Persuasion
Successful influencing requires the ability to understand situations from 3 perspectives: first person, second person, and third person. To deal with and resolve differences more effectively and efficiently, participants will build their awareness of, and skill with, all 3 perspectives.
The 3 Influence Perspectives are rooted in philosophy and psychological research. These are 3 perspectives or mindsets through which we “see” the world. They are akin to a narrator's point of view in a work of fiction.
People who naturally take the first-person perspective, which we call the Advocate, see the world from their own eyes. These people advocate for their own needs. People who have the second person perspective, the Helper, see the world from the others' points of view. They empathize with others well. People who have the third person perspective, the Observer, see situations objectively, and look for what is reasonable and fair.
It is possible to jump from one perspective to the others, and people who resolve differences well are adept at viewing the world from all three.

Participants will learn to:

- Recognize the strengths and weaknesses of different approaches to persuasion
- Advocate for your own needs when persuading and influencing
- Support the other person in an influence situation
- Create fair solutions with objectivity
- Develop strategies for dealing with people with different styles
- Build consensus in spite of different views
- Make better choices when you find yourself in opposition
