The Health Resources and Services Administration www.hrsa.gov administers a program called 340B. The 340b program is a federal government initiative that allows Poverello with our STI (Sexually Transmitted Infection) clinic, to purchase prescription drugs at discounted prices. These discounts are provided by drug manufacturers as a way of supporting healthcare providers like Poverello which serve vulnerable patient populations.
Program participants who receive care at the EXTRA Care Clinic at Poverello in our 340B Program may be able to receive their medications at a reduced cost. The specific amount of savings will depend on several factors, including the cost of the medication, the size of the discount provided under the 340B Program, and any other financial assistance programs that may be available.
At Poverello, the savings received are reinvested into meeting your most basic needs. As a result of these savings, we can help provide food, transportation, premiums/copayment assistance, utility, and rental/mortgage assistance.
