The Pottery Class Assignment Applied To Business

A high school teacher had two entry level pottery classes in the same semester. He gave each class different goals for the semester. The objective for class #1 was to make the perfect pot. He detailed an extensive description of what that would look like along with what he was looking for and included the time frame. The objective for class #2 was to make as many pots as possible.

At the end of the semester, as expected, class #2 produced more pots than class #1. Class #2 also created pots of much higher quality that exhibited more craftmanship that class #1. This underlines the value of doing the work to gain the experience required to move forward. In this case, and in the case of so many other things, volume negates luck. Success in business often boils down to your willingness to outwork everyone around you until you get the desired result. I call this Pig Headed Discipline. Perfection is rarely attainable.

I worked with a cosmetic surgeon several years ago. He focused on breast augmentation, tummy tucks and face work. He referred to them as mommy makeovers. He did a very good job working to manage the expectations of his patients. There is no human body that looks perfect to everyone. I learned later that he was frequently asked to repair the work of surgeons whose goal was to create a perfect result that never quite achieved that result. My takeaways were… Do the work. Fail. Fail faster. Fail more frequently. Gain the experience. Put the experience to work. This is what the next level looks like for most winners. ?

My name is Steven Clauson.??I coach?people who want help getting where they want to be. ?The people I coach are typically already taking action, getting results and?ask what’s next and what actions to take?to make an even?greater impact.? They aren't afraid to ask for help. ?How can I help you? ?What actions are you taking???Those who have a plan and implement that plan lead the pack.? Planning, preparing to win and taking appropriate action means you?hear the word?"YES"?more than ever.?Only if you are one of the few willing to take action, do what's required and?play full out?are you likely to hear the word yes more often. ?People hearing the word?"YES"?are winners?on the playing field because they play full out and dominate.? For these?people?results matter.? Tired of results?less than you know you can produce???Call me at 916-230-0176 or visit?www.assaultmarketing.com
