Potential
This is Lonzo. He can smell something that he wants and he is going for it. Tongue out, pulling on his owner's arm, and driving forward. Lonzo does not understand potential or possibility. He doesn't look at his life and project forward what it might be like if he gets ahold of the sausage meat that he can smell. He is reacting to his natural instinct and if I were to drop a treat to his left, he would change direction and snap it up. I loved what Lonzo made evident to me.
I was speaking with a friend of mine this morning. He has been struggling with some challenges in his life, some new and some old. What we saw was this, in every instant the challenge was an external event, something out of his control. He was allowing outside influences to dictate his life. Instead of having a guiding light from his own internal conversation, one that spoke to his now potential as well as his future possibility, he was allowing his consciousness to be pulled in whatever direction these external challenges presented themselves. Just like how Lonzo was pulling his owner in whatever direction his nose would take him.
I have come to realize that as I am within myself so goes my life externally. If I do not make the time everyday, to be in the silence of quiet meditation, I am subjected to the outside influences of the will of others and life's happenings. I call my meditation time prayer and I use a very specific five step process: Relaxation. Concentration. Meditation. Realization in The Silence. Thanksgiving.
Know thyself. Take the time daily to be in tune with your core Being. It is ready to guide you through whatever comes up in life.
