Is the Potential of Artificial Intelligence Limitless Across All Sectors?

Artificial intelligence?is creeping into the mainstream almost imperceptibly, and its trajectory suggests it will be ubiquitous within the next decade. There are the more obvious forms of the technology, such as Apple’s voice assistant, Siri. Then, there are the complex algorithms that churn away behind the scenes, putting internet users in touch with adverts that may suit them, as well as their favourite songs, films, and television series.

Because AI can self-learn and improve itself over time, there is no limit to what it will be able to do in the future. It will be used in everything from entertainment to travel, and should expand everyone’s experiences when going about their daily lives.

AI Has Shown Incredible Potential Ever Since Deep Blue Beat Kasparov

Developers have been working on AI for more than half a century, with the theoretical groundwork coming as early as the 1930s. Alan Mathison Turing was an influential figure at this time and, according?to Britannica, the British logician and computer pioneer came up with the concept of a computing machine with endless potential. He described how he wanted to create a processor that could learn from experience, and adjust the way it operated based on its past experiences.

The earliest ever AI program was created by Christopher Strachey in 1951, and it was designed to learn and play checkers. Work carried on over the next few decades until the 1990s when one of the most ground-breaking steps in the evolution of AI occurred. In the 1990s, Garry Kasparov was the greatest chess player in the world, and he achieved the highest rating ever recorded at the time in 1999. In 1996, the grandmaster came up against AI in a chess match for the first time. Although he ultimately defeated Deep Blue 4-2 in the match, it was significant that the AI program managed to beat the human player in a game.
