The algorithm is against everyone. A longtime connection who has a network at least five times bigger than mine went to the trouble of posting and received fifteen views.

What's the point of having fifteen thousand connections and followers if he would have more reaction yelling his ideas out a window? Tagging annoys many. I only tag pertinent connections.

If someone is in a specific field which is the topic of the latest post they merit a tag. Famously, I wrote a marketing article, tagged two marketers who liked and commented and absolutely no one in their networks read or commented.

The only chance of "expanding your reach" like some who think I am a troll before they are muted (if you profile me as a troll when I merely ask a question there is no reason I shall ever comment on anything you ever say again) is having someone post an article elsewhere.

I cannot explain that. The algorithm cannot be beat. The house always wins. Since Microsoft purchased LinkedIn they tried to make the members the product. I never heard the dreaded phrase "Create content" before then.

That concept is a reason there are two strikes in Hollywood. Studios are more interested in "Creating content" than finding someone with vision who makes a film from the heart. Enjoy Barbie and Oppenheimer. These films came from directors with something to say.

I intend to watch both films at some point. Not as a double feature. My "Sneaking into a second film" days are behind me. With multiplexes and minimal staffing it was pretty easy to do.

Ideas still flow. My ninth anniversary is coming next Tuesday. Probably the day I'll see Oppenheimer. The following Discount Tuesday I might be on strike. It is strange how posts are not distributed. That can cause some outsider to say "Because your post sucks."

There is no shortage of crummy posts in the feed. The only way to find posts from first degree connections- a major reason to connect with someone- is by accident.

If I were to aggravate my connections with a poll it would be to ask how many of my articles they have read. No one except yours truly has read all 3650. Some have read hundreds, many have read zero. I have never inspired anyone down the rabbit hole where they see where my head was in 2015.

Those articles had more views. Groups were alive then. They won't ever come back. Prove me wrong. There is no conversation in the comments. That was where the magic happened. It showed the best of many great connections to be.

Then we had video where people commented "Great post" showing nothing about their character. There are people using AI to leave comments. Stay home. The fun of this site is learning about others and uplifting them in comments.

Artificial intelligence uplifts no one. It gives CEO's more money that they can spend on mistresses and lap dances while working people struggle to make ends meet.

Begging the question: should you post? People hide behind imaginary numbers like 930,000,000. At least ten percent of those accounts are fake. I cannot guarantee that. It feels that way. If I receive two fake requests every week they are not vetting what it takes to open an account.

It doesn't pay to have a large network if your work is not distributed. I removed most the hashtags I was following. My feed looked no different. Cut dead weight and write for yourself. Someone might find it. If they don't; you wrote it and ideas can impress people in your life. Face to face friends mean a lot more than followers every day of the week so use social media as a springboard to real relationships in your actual life.

I thought the same thing four years ago when I stopped posting. I'm giving this can another kick. I'll check back in in a little while to comment as to today's value.

Back in my day, yelling ideas out the window was effective. I went to University when Bill Nye the Science Guy was just Bill. One night, overwhelmed during midterm or finals week, he opened the window of his dorm & shouted at the top of his lungs "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!" Actually, it was the line from a movie but in different context. He didn't stop midterms/finals week but he did create what we called "a happening" back in the day. Soon many students followed his lead, screaming the line out the window in unison. It was quite something and I guess relieved pressure for some. I just found it funny. I agree with what you wrote about AI and we, the people. are the product whenever & wherever we are online Thomas Jackson -not just on LI.

Yeah, I don't think hashtags ever did anything on LinkedIn, I still add them, but only as an annotated way of creative expression, not in the hopes of getting any extra views. I still post, but not near as often as I used to. Mostly due to being in school, my brain being filled with new ideas, new friends, and new ways to buck the system. Still, I try to get here 2-3 times a week to state my thoughts. It is not like my brain is ever at a lost for words, just that most of it isn't for human consumption.
