Postponement - a fan's view
Here at TicketPlan we are fans first and we understand the disappointment that fellow fans are experiencing in seeing the event or game that they’ve been excitedly waiting for since securing tickets, be cancelled or postponed.
This feeling was something I personally experienced at the end of March.
As a Norwich City supporter it can be quite difficult to secure tickets either home or away due to our sizeable, incredibly loyal and committed supporter base.
As a South Essex based Canaries fan, London away trips are often far easier for me to attend than home games however joining the virtual queue to secure tickets to away games in the capital has often resulted in disappointment this season.
Ahead of my Dad’s birthday at the end of March I was hopeful that I could secure us tickets for our away trip to the Emirates to face Arsenal in early April. I logged on at 9am and around 35 minutes later, elation! I’d got them and I began looking forward to another great day out at the football with the old man.
A couple of weeks later and the COVID19 situation was becoming increasingly significant and the excitement of getting hold of the tickets and looking forward to the game was replaced with disappointment that we were unlikely to be travelling to North London.
Naturally these feelings quickly faded into insignificance as the seriousness and severity of the pandemic became apparent and my thoughts instead turned to everyone’s safety and welfare particularly our frontline workers who have been simply incredible during this most testing and frightening of times and I know that I speak on behalf of everyone in the TicketPlan team in thanking them for their unbelievable work.
I know that the feelings I experienced in relation to the game are being felt by many thousands of fans across all forms of sport and live entertainment at the moment but I’m confident that we will get through these difficult times and will once again be sharing in unforgettable live experiences together in the future.
