POSTMAN Flows Overview

Postman short guide 4:

This is a short guide for Postman feature called Flows.

What is use of Flows?

If you would like to automate your API test cases then now you no need to write the code snippet. You just draw the Flows for your API and rest Postman will take care.

How to Create Flows?

1. Open the postman.
2. Click on Flows menu on the left menu. (If flows menu not visible then click on configure workspace sidebar and you and enable this menu ).
3. Create your collection or you can use your existing collection.
4. Click on + icon and then click on Create new flow.

5. A start design window will open with Start button.

6. Now start building your flows diagram.

7. Once done with flow diagram then click on run button on bottom and you are ready to go.

If you are new to Postman or finding difficulty with to get started then you can follow the below video to get started.

This is simple video to get started. You can do lot more things. Like create condition statement, set environment variable from the response, do the chaining, logs the response and much more.

Do explore and use as per your requirements.

My personal opinion, If you are looking for automate you API test using this flow then you can hold for now. Still the best way to do is write script (pre and post).

This is really good feature if you are going to present your API demo to business or someone then you should use this feature this will really helpful.
