A POST-WAR LUNCH THAT LAUNCHED A MULTI-MILLION POUND FEMALE SUCCESS STORY

Seventy years ago, Antonella (Tony) Lothian, a wife, a mother of six and a visionary, founded the Women of the Year Foundation. Her noble purpose was to recognise and celebrate the remarkable achievements of women from around the world.

It all started with a simple lunch in 1955.

Today, we proudly commemorate seven decades of uplifting and propelling the triumphs of women globally. This is a momentous celebration of fearless trailblazers who have made a lasting impact in their fields and enriched society as a whole. Let's raise a cheer to Tony for her pioneering spirit and the transformative change she brought to the world!

Last year, I was honoured to be nominated for a Women of the Year award, and now, I am thrilled to share that I have been appointed as a member of the Management Committee for the Women of the Year Foundation! I am super excited to contribute to this outstanding, dedicated team of volunteers whose aim is to continue Tony's legacy by championing the accomplishments, dreams and limitless potential of women.

Plus, one of our key goals is to create a more inclusive and empowering world. I am wholeheartedly committed to integrating my mission of making a positive impact through fundraising, philanthropy and assisting others. I can't wait to achieve extraordinary things together! So far, my fundraising endeavours have raised over ￡1 million for various charitable causes, earning me a prestigious place among the Top 1% of the UK's highest solo fundraisers.

In addition to my philanthropic and humanitarian work, as an Advanced Clinical Rapid Transformational Hypnotherapist, I help my clients to overcome fears, phobias and addictions, enabling them to unlock their true potential. My passion for pushing boundaries extends to conquering challenging expeditions as an extreme adventurer and elite athlete. From ultramarathons in the Sahara Desert to trekking to the North Pole to scaling the world's highest mountains, I have learned the immeasurable value of perseverance, grit and determination.

I am dedicated to empowering women through public speaking engagements, as well as actively engaging in humanitarian and voluntary work in disaster-stricken areas. Last year, I embarked on a solo journey to contribute to relief efforts during the earthquake in Turkey. Moreover, being part of the Tsunami Aid Team has given me first-hand experience of the significant impact we can make when we come together.

The Women of the Year Foundation's primary objective is to empower disadvantaged women globally, enabling them to enhance their lives and make meaningful contributions to their communities. We achieve this through grants that uplift and support women, helping them turn their dreams into reality and accomplish their aspirations.

• Coaching Inside & Out: This program offers life coaching to women in prison and the community, aiming to create positive change and help them overcome challenges.

• Feast With Us: This project provides healthy meals in homeless shelters by utilising surplus food and dedicated volunteers.
• Freedom Kit Bags: This initiative supplies hygienic sanitary wear to women and girls in rural Nepal, enabling them to continue their education and improve their livelihoods.
• Generating Genius: This charity focuses on supporting academically capable students from disadvantaged backgrounds, particularly in STEM subjects. The Foundation funds tech camps for girls, fostering digital enterprise skills and coding.
• Projects For All: Funds are provided to support the work of Gift Augustine, a trained nurse who raises awareness about harmful practices such as female genital mutilation, breast ironing, and sleeping with the dead in Nigeria.

Congratulations to the Women of the Year Foundation for achieving their remarkable 70th anniversary milestone! It is truly awe-inspiring to witness their evolution into a strong advocate for the empowerment of women worldwide. As a new addition to the Management Committee, I am thrilled to contribute to their continued success. Here's to many more years of outstanding accomplishments, and may we continue to flourish and create a lasting positive influence with each passing year!
