Post March 31, 2024: temporary special measures for Unprocessed CUAET applicants

The Government of Canada has advised of the following update with respect to unprocessed CUAET (Canadian Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel) applications…

Clients who applied under one of the CUAET public policies that are now expired but did not receive a decision on their application in time to travel to Canada before the measures ended on March 31, 2024, (now referred to as unprocessed CUAET applicants) may be eligible to travel to Canada as a CUAET visa holder and receive some of the in-Canada benefits associated with the CUAET.

These measures provide clients access to nearly full CUAET benefits, including

  • POE facilitation (waiving of bona fides and financial inadmissibility requirements)
  • the ability to apply until July 31, 2024, at a port of entry (POE) upon arrival or inland for a?fee-exempt?study permit or open work permit and for an extended stay of up to 3 years. These inland applications will benefit from priority processing.

These clients are?not?eligible for one-time transitional financial assistance (CUTAI) or temporary accommodations if they arrive in Canada after March 31, 2024.

Officers processing eligible clients can continue to reference the following suite of PDIs for instructions:
